Bengaluru Police Strengthen Security And Traffic Plan For CM Swearing-In

Security and traffic arrangements tightened for Karnataka CM swearing-in.

Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been put in place in the city ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar, scheduled to be held at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, with police expecting high-profile attendance and heavy public movement around the venue.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that senior officers had conducted a detailed review meeting to finalise security deployment, traffic regulation, and overall law-and-order arrangements. He added that only individuals with valid entry passes would be permitted inside the venue, with separate categories of passes issued for VVIPs, VIPs, and other invited guests.

Authorities have also implemented large-scale traffic diversions across central Bengaluru in anticipation of congestion. Police said no unauthorised movement would be allowed near the event zone, particularly around the Central Business District (CBD), where restrictions are expected to remain in force during the ceremony hours.

According to the traffic advisory, movement of vehicles has been restricted on several key roads, including Cubbon Road between BRV Junction and CTO Junction, and stretches connecting Race Course Road, Queens Junction, St Mark’s Road, and surrounding routes leading to Lok Bhavan. Officials said the restrictions were necessary due to expected congestion from the ceremony and associated public gatherings.

Security arrangements have been strengthened due to the expected presence of senior political leaders, dignitaries, and guests from across the country. Police personnel have been deployed across key junctions, while special arrangements have been made for convoy movement, parking zones, and controlled access points to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

The Karnataka government has also declared a half-day holiday for employees at key administrative buildings, including Vidhana Soudha, Raj Bhavan, Vikasa Soudha, and the M.S. Building, citing security needs and anticipated traffic disruption. Officials said final preparations are underway for the oath-taking ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 4:05 p.m. at Lok Bhavan’s Glass House.
