Andhra Teen Sexually Assaulted in Hotel by Instagram Contact Met 10 Days Ago
19-year-old woman raped in Andhra Pradesh hotel by man she met on Instagram 10 days ago.
In Tirupati Rural, Andhra Pradesh, a 19-year-old school dropout fell victim to a calculated digital trap orchestrated by a 22-year-old college student from Badwel, Kadapa district. The two connected on Instagram only ten days ago, engaging in seemingly innocent chats that quickly escalated. On January 23 evening, the accused lured her to a local hotel under false pretenses, leading to the assault around 7:30 pm.
CCTV footage captured a sinister escalation: shortly after the initial assault, additional young men arrived at the hotel room, indicating a premeditated group exploitation plan. The survivor, showing remarkable presence of mind, fled the scene before further harm could occur. This footage has become crucial evidence in unraveling the accused's network.
The brave survivor confided in her mother immediately after escaping, prompting them to file a police complaint the next day at Alipiri police station. Authorities responded swiftly, raiding the hotel room for forensic samples including fingerprints, bodily fluids, and digital traces. The 19-year-old was promptly taken to Ruia Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination to document injuries and collect vital evidence.

Inspection of the accused's phone revealed a disturbing history of predatory behavior, including multiple "nude chats" with other girls and evidence of prior luring attempts via social media. Alipiri circle inspector Ram Kishore confirmed to NDTV that this points to a pattern of grooming for assault and blackmail. The 22-year-old is slated for formal arrest today, with police intensifying efforts to identify accomplices.
Investigators are now probing the boys seen in the CCTV footage, suspecting their involvement in a broader scheme targeting vulnerable young women online. This case mirrors a rising wave of digital grooming incidents in India, where platforms like Instagram are exploited by predators—over 50 similar cases reported in Andhra Pradesh alone last year, per NCRB data.
Officials urge parents and youth to exercise caution with online interactions, emphasizing verification of identities and avoiding isolated meetings. "This dangerous trend among youngsters demands stricter social media vigilance and faster police intervention," Inspector Kishore warned, highlighting the need for awareness campaigns to curb such exploitations.
