#BreakingNews: Andhra Student Found Dead in US After Complaining of Cough and Chest Pain
23-year-old Andhra student found dead in Texas after sudden illness.
A 23-year-old student from Andhra Pradesh, identified as Rajyalakshmi Yarlagadda, was found dead in Texas, United States, days after complaining of a severe cough and chest pain. The young woman, who had recently graduated with a master’s degree in computer science from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, was preparing to begin her professional career and had been actively searching for job opportunities.
According to a fundraising campaign launched by her cousin on GoFundMe, Rajyalakshmi, fondly known as Raji, reportedly fell ill last week and told her family that she was suffering from a persistent cough, cold, and fatigue. Two days later, she experienced acute chest pain. On November 7, she failed to wake up when her alarm rang, prompting concerns that led to the discovery of her death. The cause remains unknown, with medical investigations underway to determine how the sudden illness turned fatal.
Her cousin, Chaitanya YVK, who resides in Denton, Texas, shared on the GoFundMe page that Rajyalakshmi came to the United States with hopes of building a better life for her family in India. Her parents, who are farmers in Karmechedu village of Bapatla district, had supported their youngest daughter’s dream of earning a master’s degree abroad. The tragic turn of events has devastated the family, both emotionally and financially.

The fundraising drive aims to cover the costs of returning Rajyalakshmi’s body to India, her funeral arrangements, and supporting her parents who now face significant hardship. “She carried a heart full of hope for her family’s future, and her loss has left them shattered,” her cousin wrote, reflecting the sentiments of many who knew her. The campaign has drawn emotional responses from Indian students and local communities in Texas who were moved by her story.
Rajyalakshmi’s untimely death has once again highlighted the vulnerability of young international students living far from their families, often balancing immense academic pressure, health challenges, and financial burdens. As authorities complete the formalities and await the autopsy results, her grieving family in Andhra Pradesh hopes to bring their daughter home soon.
