Abhijeet Dipke-Led Protest Sees Huge Turnout: Supporters List 5 Demands

Supporters gathered in large numbers to press five key demands.

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke returned to India on Saturday and led a large-scale protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, drawing hundreds of supporters and students. The demonstration, held under heavy security deployment, centred on demands related to education reforms and alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests. Protesters also called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Addressing the gathering, Dipke said the campaign had been running for a month on social media and accused authorities of attempting to suppress the movement. According to remarks reported by PTI, he claimed that efforts had been made to remove online posts and disrupt the campaign, but insisted that the protest would continue until its demands were addressed. He described the agitation as a long-term struggle aimed at bringing accountability to the education system.

One of the key demands raised by supporters was the resignation of Pradhan over alleged lapses in the conduct of examinations and recruitment processes. Protesters argued that recurring controversies surrounding tests have eroded public confidence and affected the futures of students and job aspirants. Many participants called for greater transparency, accountability and safeguards to prevent irregularities in future examinations.

Another major demand focused on the implementation of digitalisation in education only after adequate preparation and training. Radheshyam Kaithal, a parent of three students pursuing higher education in Delhi, argued that while technology can improve systems, authorities must first ensure that teachers are properly trained and that safeguards are in place to prevent misuse and fraud. He said digital reforms should be introduced gradually and after thorough assessment.

The protesters also highlighted concerns about the education situation in Manipur, where prolonged unrest has disrupted normal life. Winson, a social entrepreneur originally from Manipur, said schools and colleges in the state have struggled to function normally for years, leaving students under significant stress. Participants demanded measures to restore regular educational activities and provide support to affected students.

Alongside these issues, supporters called for broader reforms to strengthen educational governance, improve examination integrity and address student welfare concerns. The turnout at Jantar Mantar reflected growing frustration among sections of youth and parents, with organisers vowing to continue their campaign until their demands receive a response from the government.
