40 Expired Soft Drink Bottles Seized From Bengaluru Hockey Club Kitchen

A food safety inspection at the Vivekanagar Hockey Club in Bengaluru found expired soft drinks, improper labelling and pest infestation in the club's kitchen, officials said. The inspection was carried out by the Food Safety Division of the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration following directions from Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader.

Officials inspected the premises under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and found the kitchen being maintained in unhygienic conditions. The inspection covered food preparation and storage areas, where authorities identified several lapses related to hygiene and food safety practices.

As many as 40 bottles of expired soft drinks were seized during the inspection. Officials also found soda bottles carrying improper labels, raising concerns over compliance with mandatory food safety and labelling requirements.

The inspection further revealed unhygienic conditions in areas used for food preparation and storage. Authorities also found inadequate food safety practices and pest infestation inside the kitchen, highlighting shortcomings in maintaining sanitary conditions at the facility.

Following the findings, a notice was issued to the concerned food business operator. Officials said further legal action would be initiated under the applicable food safety regulations based on the violations detected during the inspection.

The inspection forms part of food safety enforcement measures aimed at ensuring that food businesses comply with statutory hygiene, storage, labelling and safety requirements. Authorities are expected to take further action against the operator in accordance with the findings recorded during the inspection.
