22-Year-Old Student Killed as His Speeding Car Hits Apartment Wall

A 22-year-old student was killed and two of his friends sustained minor injuries after his speeding car crashed into the boundary wall of an apartment and overturned in Secunderabad during the early hours of Monday. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident.

The deceased has been identified as Varun, a resident of the area and the son of an Army personnel. According to police, Varun had travelled to Sainikpuri on the evening of July 19 to meet his friends. After spending several hours together, the three began their return journey in the early hours of July 20.

Police said Varun was driving a Volkswagen Vento when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle near Om Shree Signet Apartments in Yapral at around 4 am. CCTV footage of the incident reportedly shows the speeding car veering off the road before crashing into the apartment's boundary wall and overturning due to the force of the impact.

Varun suffered severe head injuries in the crash, while the two other occupants, identified as Ali and Arun, sustained minor injuries. Residents and passersby rushed to the scene after hearing the impact and alerted the police and emergency services. The injured student was immediately taken to a military hospital by his friends, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The two injured passengers received medical treatment for minor injuries and are reported to be out of danger. Police said preliminary findings indicate that overspeeding may have caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. However, investigators are also examining other possible factors, including the condition of the road and additional circumstances surrounding the accident.

The damaged vehicle has been seized for forensic examination, and a case has been registered at Jawahar Nagar Police Station. Police said statements from the injured occupants and other evidence collected during the investigation will help establish the exact cause of the crash, with further details expected after the inquiry is completed.
