Young CA’s Tragic Suicide Shocks Delhi

25-year-old dies by helium inhalation, leaves note.

25-year-old chartered accountant, Dheeraj Kansal, took his own life by inhaling helium gas in a guest house near Janpath in New Delhi’s Bengali Market area, police reported. Kansal, who resided in a paying guest house in Mehrauli, checked into the facility on July 28. When hotel staff noticed his room remained locked for an unusually long period, they alerted authorities, prompting a team from Barakhamba Police Station to intervene.

Upon breaking open the door, police discovered Kansal’s body alongside a helium gas cylinder connected to three plastic pipes, confirming the cause of death as oxygen deprivation from helium inhalation, a highly fatal method.

A suicide note found in Kansal’s left pocket, written in English, revealed his feelings of isolation. “The saddest part of my life was my birth; death is the most beautiful part,” he wrote, adding, “I wasn’t deeply connected to anyone, nor was anyone to me. There’s no reason, no regret, and no complaint.” Kansal also referenced a social media post about his decision, noting, “No one should be held responsible for this.”

The note disclosed Kansal’s personal struggles, including the loss of his father in 2003, his mother’s remarriage, and having no siblings. His body was received by his uncle and cousins. Police are investigating further, but the note’s emphasis on solitude has sparked discussions about mental health support for young professionals in urban centers like Delhi.
