Yogi Sets 70% Sanction, 60% Spend Target For UP Departments In Two Months

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed state officials to speed up financial sanctions and increase expenditure under the 2026-27 budget, with the first half of the financial year nearing completion. At a review meeting on Sunday, he called for immediate corrective measures in departments where budget utilisation remains below expectations. The review covered budget provisions, financial sanctions and actual expenditure across major departments.

Adityanath directed departments to issue 70 per cent of financial sanctions within the next two months and ensure that at least 60 per cent of their allocated budgets are spent. He said the purpose of the budget was not limited to allocating funds but also ensuring their timely utilisation so that intended benefits reach the public. The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna and included a detailed review of 30 departments with the highest budget allocations.

The Chief Minister also instructed the Finance Department to identify and resolve policy, procedural and technical hurdles affecting approvals or expenditure. Regular reviews with departmental ministers were ordered, while officials were asked to monitor progress and provide updates to the Chief Minister's Office. Adityanath also stressed improving the credit-deposit ratio of banks to strengthen the rural economy and directed officials to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the benefits of the Kisan Credit Card through village-wise and farmer-wise mapping.

To improve rural lending, the government was asked to prepare a framework for events such as the Rural Credit Conclave and strengthen links between farmers and banking facilities. Adityanath also directed the MSME Department to expand branding and promotion of Uttar Pradesh's geographical indication-tagged products in domestic and international markets. He said public welfare schemes and development projects must meet quality and timelines, with responsibility fixed on agencies and officials in cases of unnecessary delays or poor-quality work.

During the review of centrally assisted schemes, Adityanath called for closer coordination to address pending funds and approvals. He asked departmental ministers to communicate directly with their counterparts at the Centre where necessary so that implementation was not delayed. Heads of departments and senior officials were also instructed to make regular field visits, assess development works and take corrective action wherever progress was slow.

Adityanath said departments must meet their targets during the remaining months of the financial year and reiterated that funds would not be a constraint for development and public welfare schemes. He placed responsibility on departments to ensure that available funds are used effectively, transparently and on time. The directives are intended to accelerate both financial approvals and actual spending as the state moves through the second half of the 2026-27 financial year.
