Yogi Adityanath Thanks Farmers as Noida International Airport Begins Operations

Yogi Adityanath praises farmers as Noida International Airport starts operations.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday expressed gratitude to farmers who contributed their land for the development of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, describing them as the “foundation of the nation’s prosperity.” His remarks came as the newly developed airport marked a major milestone with the commencement of flight operations.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister highlighted the role of farmers in enabling large-scale infrastructure development across the state. He said it is the responsibility of society and the government to honour the contributions of farmers, framing their participation in land acquisition as a key driver of Uttar Pradesh’s growth and modernization efforts.

CM Adityanath also welcomed farmers who arrived in Lucknow on the inaugural flight from the newly operational airport. He reiterated that his government remains committed to the welfare and progress of farmers, stressing that development initiatives must continue to include and recognise rural communities who have supported such projects.

In parallel, IndiGo became the first airline to begin commercial operations from Noida International Airport, located in Gautam Buddha Nagar district along the Yamuna Expressway. The inaugural flight connected Lucknow to Jewar, while the first outbound service departed for Bengaluru, marking the airport’s entry into India’s aviation network.

The airline announced that it will directly connect the new airport to more than 16 destinations across the country, significantly improving regional connectivity. It also introduced one-stop connections between multiple tier-2 and tier-3 city pairs, aiming to enhance travel accessibility and reduce transit times for passengers across India.

Officials from both IndiGo and Noida International Airport described the launch as a significant step in India’s aviation expansion, with expectations that the airport will develop into a major logistics and passenger hub. The facility is expected to ease congestion in the Delhi-NCR region while strengthening air connectivity for northern India’s rapidly growing urban and semi-urban centres.
