World Leaders Congratulate PM Modi On Historic 4,399-Day Leadership Milestone

World leaders congratulate PM Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected PM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister has drawn congratulatory messages from leaders across the world, marking the milestone as a significant moment in global political leadership. PM Modi completed 12 years in office on Wednesday, surpassing former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s record of 4,399 days as an elected Prime Minister.

Leaders from neighbouring countries and strategic partners were among the first to extend their greetings. Rabi Lamichhane, President of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party, described the milestone as a “remarkable feat” and recalled his recent meeting with PM Modi in Delhi. He emphasised continued cooperation between India and Nepal, particularly in areas of economic development and shared growth.

Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also conveyed his wishes on behalf of the King, government and people of Bhutan, calling the achievement a reflection of both political longevity and democratic trust. He noted that PM Modi’s leadership has contributed to India’s global rise and strengthened regional ties, particularly between India and Bhutan.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung joined global leaders in congratulating PM Modi, stating that his leadership has played a key role in India’s economic development and international standing. European Council President Antonio Costa also highlighted strengthened India–EU relations under PM Modi, pointing to recent diplomatic engagements as evidence of deepening cooperation.

Leaders from Mongolia, Israel, Kenya, Ethiopia and Fiji also extended their greetings, praising PM Modi’s leadership style, reform-driven governance and long-standing public mandate. Kenyan President William Ruto described his journey from humble beginnings as a testament to dedication and public service, while Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali called him a strong voice of the Global South.

PM Modi’s milestone comes as he continues to hold office after multiple consecutive electoral victories, making him one of the longest-serving democratic leaders in the world. With 4,399 days in office, he has now surpassed Jawaharlal Nehru’s record as India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, a development that has drawn widespread international attention and diplomatic recognition.
