Woman Kills Three Children Before Dying By Suicide In Punjab’s Mansa
Police investigate tragic incident involving woman and three children in Mansa.
A 36-year-old woman allegedly killed her three children before dying by suicide at her rented residence in Mansa, Punjab, on Thursday evening, police said on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Kaur and her children — Khushpreet Kaur, 12, Samandeep Kaur, 7, and a two-year-old son. Kaur was found hanging inside the house, while the three children were discovered dead, according to Station House Officer Kulwant Singh of City Police Station II, Mansa.
Police suspect that Kaur administered a poisonous substance to her eldest daughter and may have strangulated the two younger children. However, officials emphasized that the exact cause of death for each child will only be confirmed after postmortem examinations are completed. The bodies were sent for autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation into the sequence of events that unfolded at the residence.
Investigators said Kaur’s husband had died a few months ago, leaving her to raise the three children alone. Her mother, who works as a daily-wage labourer, was also referenced by police while outlining the family’s circumstances. The household had been living in rented accommodation in Mansa at the time of the incident, and no suicide note has been reported so far.

The motive behind the alleged killings and subsequent suicide remains under investigation, SHO Kulwant Singh stated. Police are examining all possible factors, including financial stress and personal circumstances following the death of Kaur’s husband. Officials have not yet disclosed whether the woman had a history of mental health concerns or if other family members were aware of any distress prior to Thursday.
Local police have registered a case and are recording statements from relatives and neighbors to establish a timeline. Forensic teams visited the residence to collect evidence, while authorities await the postmortem reports to determine the precise causes of death. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation as the probe continues, noting that findings will be shared once the investigation concludes.
