White House Leaves Door Open to Military Action Against Iran
White House signals Trump prepared for military action against Iran amid escalating unrest.
The White House has affirmed that President Donald Trump is maintaining "all options on the table," including potential airstrikes, in response to the ongoing crisis in Iran. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized during a briefing that while diplomacy remains the administration's preferred initial approach, the president is unafraid to deploy military force when deemed necessary. She highlighted that Trump has consistently demonstrated this resolve, a fact well understood by Iranian leadership.
Leavitt addressed reports of private communications from Tehran that contrast sharply with the regime's public statements, noting the president's interest in exploring these channels. She reiterated that Trump keeps military options available as part of a broader strategy, underscoring his willingness to act decisively if diplomatic efforts fail to resolve the situation. The remarks reflect heightened U.S. scrutiny of Iran's internal developments and external posture.
Protests continue to spread across Iran, with significant demonstrations reported in provinces such as Azerbaijan and the central city of Arak. Crowds have gathered to express support for the nation while voicing grievances over economic hardship, inflation, and governance issues. According to the Human Rights News Agency, the unrest has resulted in at least 544 deaths and the arrest of more than 10,681 individuals, who have been transferred to detention facilities.

In response to the White House statements, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei declared that the country's armed forces stand fully prepared to counter any aggression. He asserted that Tehran is monitoring developments closely and that military readiness is being maintained at the highest level on a continuous basis. Baghaei further accused foreign powers, specifically the United States and Israel, of fueling the unrest through overt interventionist rhetoric.
The exchange of strong positions between Washington and Tehran occurs against a backdrop of deepening domestic turmoil in Iran. While the U.S. administration explores both diplomatic and military pathways, Iranian officials have vowed unwavering defense of national sovereignty. The situation remains volatile, with potential implications for regional stability and international relations.
