West Bengal Voters Can Now Call 1950 for Electoral Roll Assistance

Voter doubts cleared instantly for Bengal's electoral revision.

The Election Commission has introduced the toll-free voter helpline 1950 to address concerns and ensure transparency during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal. This initiative enables citizens to seek clarifications, register complaints, and verify details related to voter lists. Officials confirmed that the helpline operates alongside state and district-level support systems, reinforcing public confidence in the electoral process.

Authorities emphasized that the SIR is a standard procedure supervised by the Commission, previously implemented in states such as Bihar, with assurances that no eligible voter will be removed unjustly. The National Contact Centre, accessible via 1800-11-1950 from 8 am to 8 pm daily, serves as a centralized resource for all states and Union territories. Trained staff are deployed to handle inquiries efficiently and guide voters through the revision process.

To enhance accessibility, every state and district has been directed to establish localized contact centers offering assistance in regional languages. All grievances are systematically logged and monitored through the National Grievance Service portal. Voters may also engage directly with Booth Level Officers via the ECINET platform, facilitating prompt communication with election authorities.

The ECINET mobile application further empowers citizens to connect with officials, while Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officers, and Electoral Registration Officers are mandated to resolve complaints within 48 hours. These measures complement existing channels, including email submissions to complaints@eci.gov.in, ensuring comprehensive support.

The Election Commission urged all eligible voters to utilize these services to obtain information, provide feedback, or report discrepancies, underscoring its dedication to an impartial and inclusive electoral framework. This multi-channel approach aims to eliminate confusion and uphold the integrity of the voter registration exercise in West Bengal.
