West Bengal Voter List Under Scrutiny as UIDAI Finds 34 Lakh Dead Aadhaar Holders

UIDAI bombshell exposes massive ghost voter scam.

In a stunning revelation that has rocked West Bengal’s political landscape, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has informed the Election Commission that a staggering 34 lakh Aadhaar card holders in the state have been officially flagged as 'deceased' since the biometric identity system was launched in January 2009—yet many of these names continue to haunt active electoral rolls ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Even more alarmingly, UIDAI data shows another 13 lakh individuals who never enrolled for Aadhaar at all have passed away over the years, but their identities remain embedded in voter lists, creating a fertile ground for potential fraud, duplication, and manipulation in one of India’s most politically charged states.

The explosive disclosure came during an urgent coordination meeting between UIDAI officials and West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, part of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ordered by the Election Commission to cross-verify voter data with Aadhaar records and eliminate ghost, duplicate, and deceased entries before final rolls are published on February 7, 2026.

To bolster the cleanup, election authorities are now pulling dormant bank account data—where Aadhaar-linked KYC has not been updated in years—as conclusive proof of death, while over 6.98 crore enumeration forms (91.19% coverage) have been distributed door-to-door by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who are mapping current residents against the 2002 baseline rolls in a meticulous verification exercise.

With draft electoral rolls slated for release on December 9, any applicant found using a name removed from the Aadhaar database will be summoned by Electoral Registration Officers for identity verification, and BLOs responsible for fake or unverified entries face severe disciplinary action—including suspension—as the EC cracks down on systemic vulnerabilities exposed by this unprecedented data purge.
