West Bengal Launches Recruitment for 8,477 Non-Teaching School Posts
West Bengal Announces 8,477 School Jobs in Major Recruitment Drive
The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) has launched a major recruitment drive to fill 8,477 non-teaching positions in state-run and aided secondary and higher secondary schools, according to a notification issued on Friday. The initiative aims to strengthen the administrative backbone of the state’s education system, addressing staffing needs following a significant legal setback earlier this year.
The SSC detailed that 2,989 Group C non-teaching staff positions will be filled through a selection process involving a written test and interview, while 5,488 Group D roles will also be recruited. Online applications for these positions will be accepted from September 16 to October 31, offering a window for eligible candidates to apply. This recruitment follows the Supreme Court’s April 3 ruling, which upheld a Calcutta High Court order invalidating the appointments of 25,753 teaching and non-teaching staff hired through the 2016 state-level selection test due to irregularities.
The recruitment drive underscores West Bengal’s commitment to restoring stability in its school system while ensuring transparent hiring practices. By filling these critical roles, the state aims to enhance operational efficiency in schools, providing a robust support system for educators and students alike as it navigates the aftermath of the controversial 2016 recruitment process.
