Bengal CM serves jhalmuri to PM Modi at NDA meet.
During a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting held in the national capital on Wednesday to mark 12 years of the coalition government at the Centre, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari served the traditional Bengali snack “jhalmuri” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing attention to a light-hearted moment amid a politically significant gathering.
The meeting was organised to commemorate the NDA government completing 12 years in office and to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming the longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history. The event brought together senior leaders of the alliance to reflect on governance milestones and outline future policy directions.
According to details shared from the meeting, Prime Minister Modi also interacted informally during the session and was seen in a video shared on his official social media account acknowledging the gesture. He later encouraged the vendor present at the venue to serve “jhalmuri” to other NDA leaders, with several participants, including BJP national president Nitin Nabin, seen sampling the snack.

The serving of “jhalmuri,” a popular spicy street food from Bengal, added a cultural touch to the political gathering. The snack has previously featured in political campaigns in West Bengal, particularly during election outreach, where it became associated with regional identity and campaign symbolism.
Beyond the informal interactions, the NDA meeting was also expected to focus on organisational strategy and governance achievements over the past 12 years. Party sources indicated that a resolution may be adopted congratulating Prime Minister Modi on surpassing the previous record of continuous tenure held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, based on elected terms.
The gathering is part of a broader series of events planned by the NDA to highlight its governance track record, strengthen alliance coordination, and set priorities for the coming political cycle, combining both celebratory and strategic discussions in the national capital.
