We Are Naxal-Free!! Karnataka CM Disbands Anti-Naxal Force
Karnataka Declared 'Naxal-Free,' Anti-Naxal Force to Disband: CM Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the disbandment of the state’s Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) during the presentation of the FY 2025-26 budget on Friday, declaring the state officially free of naxal activity. The move comes after six underground naxals surrendered under the government’s rehabilitation program, marking the end of a decades-long challenge.
“Law and order are vital for economic growth,” Siddaramaiah stated, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward threats to social harmony. He credited the surrender and rehabilitation initiative for Karnataka’s naxal-free status and unveiled a Rs 10 crore package to reintegrate former naxals into society and develop affected areas.
The budget also prioritized modernizing law enforcement. The Cyber Crime Division will receive a Rs 5 crore boost to tackle rising cybercrimes and drug-related offenses. Bengaluru’s Safe City project, costing Rs 667 crore, has deployed 7,500 cameras, 10 drones, and 560 body-worn cameras, alongside 60 women’s outposts to enhance safety for women and children. Seven new police stations are nearing completion, and Rs 50 crore will fund 1,000 new vehicles under the Police Mobility Scheme.
Siddaramaiah outlined plans to expand Bengaluru’s police divisions from eight to eleven and establish four additional bomb detection and disposal squads in Bellary, Davanagere, Mysuru, and central Bengaluru. Two new Indian Reserve Battalions will be set up near Nandi Hills and in KGF with an Rs 80 crore grant. The Prison Department will receive Rs 100 crore for infrastructure upgrades, while the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services Department will undergo a Rs 330 crore modernization under the 15th Finance Commission.
The CM’s announcements reflect a dual focus: celebrating the eradication of naxalism while bolstering security and infrastructure to meet contemporary challenges, ensuring Karnataka remains a safe and progressive state.
