Wayanad’s GI-Tagged Coffee Steals the Spotlight in India’s ODOP Program

Wayanad’s GI-tagged robusta coffee has brewed up a storm, securing a prestigious special mention in the Centre’s One District One Product (ODOP) program, announced Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. This marks the first time a product from Kerala has been honored under the initiative, spotlighting the district’s agricultural pride.
In a post on X, Priyanka Gandhi hailed the achievement, stating, “Wayanad Coffee has earned a Special Mention under Category A – Agriculture in the GoI’s ODOP program, celebrating the dedication of our farmers and the unique identity of our GI-tagged Robusta Coffee.” She congratulated the farmers and stakeholders who made this milestone possible, emphasizing the coffee’s role as a cornerstone of Wayanad’s economy.
The ODOP initiative, aimed at fostering balanced regional development, promotes a signature product from each district. Wayanad’s coffee, known for its distinct flavor, now stands as a symbol of local pride and resilience. “Let’s continue to champion the richness of our land and its people,” Gandhi added.
