Viral Video Triggers Kamdhenu Dairy Raid in Bilaspur!

Food Safety Team raids Kamdhenu Dairy in Bilaspur after viral adulteration claim

The Himachal Pradesh Food Safety Department raided Kamdhenu Dairy’s headquarters in Namhol, Bilaspur, on Sunday, following a viral video where a woman alleged the presence of a suspicious white substance in the company’s milk packet. The claim, which raised widespread consumer concern, prompted a team led by Food Safety Officer Khagendra Negi to collect samples of milk, curd, and ghee for laboratory testing.

Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Kashyap confirmed the raid, stating, “Samples from Kamdhenu Dairy have been sent for analysis. If they fail quality tests, strict legal action will follow.” The department is awaiting lab results to determine if the milk is unfit for consumption, as alleged. The incident has sparked alarm, with experts warning that adulteration in dairy products poses serious health risks to the public.

Kamdhenu Dairy, known for its cow milk products, refuted the allegations as “baseless” and damaging to its reputation. The company announced plans to pursue legal action against the woman behind the viral video, asserting that her claims lack evidence and harm the brand’s credibility. Meanwhile, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, sharing the video on social media, assured that the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

This raid aligns with broader concerns about dairy adulteration in India. A 2020 study by the Consumer Guidance Society of India found that 79% of milk samples in Maharashtra were adulterated, highlighting the need for stringent oversight. The Bilaspur incident underscores the urgency of ensuring food safety amid rising public scrutiny.
