Vidya Balan Leads India’s Cancer Fight with Sanjeevani 2025 Drive
Sanjeevani 2025 pushes early cancer screening across India
The third Sanjeevani National Convention, held in Mumbai marked a pivotal moment in India’s battle against its growing cancer crisis, with annual cases projected to hit 1.57 million by year-end, 70% diagnosed at late stages. Organized by Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation, News18 Network, and Tata Trusts, with actor Vidya Balan as ambassador, the initiative has reached over 600 million people via News18’s TV network and garnered 13 million digital engagements over 700 days.
Emphasizing early detection, Sanjeevani’s multi-platform campaign includes screening camps, school workshops, corporate health programs, and survivor stories, aiming to destigmatize cancer and normalize regular screenings.
Vidya Balan, whose personal connection to the cause resonated deeply, urged, “Cancer shakes identity, confidence, and family, but early detection gives us power, time, and hope.” The convention’s ‘Antaratma’ segment showcased survivors thriving as professionals and parents, reinforcing that survival is a new beginning.
Shri Prakash Abitkar, Maharashtra’s Public Health Minister, praised the partnership, noting the state’s commitment through eight cancer care centers and plans for 26 more, alongside screening 2.5 crore rural women since February. Federal Bank’s CEO, KVS Manian, highlighted the campaign’s expansion to support 20,000 more lives this year, blending medical aid with practical support like travel and lodging assistance.
Sanjeevani 2025 is set to penetrate rural and underserved areas, targeting schoolgirls, daily wage workers, and women in informal sectors to make screening routine. Tata Trusts’ CEO Siddharth Sharma emphasized flipping the early-to-late detection ratio, while News18’s Avinash Kaul called it a movement for justice and solidarity.
With partnerships driving grassroots engagement, Sanjeevani aims to transform India’s cancer narrative from fear to hope, urging every citizen to embrace screening as a lifesaving norm.
