The incident occurred when a young reporter asked whether the UDF government would fulfil its election promise on the legalisation of vehicle modifications in Kerala, an issue that had found strong resonance among younger voters during the campaign. Satheesan assured that the government would honour its commitments, but it was his warm expression during the exchange that unexpectedly drew public attention and went viral within hours.
Social media users began circulating short clips of the interaction, with many affectionately referring to him as Kerala’s “Pookie CM”. The term “pookie”, commonly used in Gen Z slang, is used to describe someone seen as cute, endearing or emotionally warm.
