Uttar Pradesh Tops India’s Two-Wheeler Sales in Q3 FY25-26, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu Follow

Uttar Pradesh leads India’s two-wheeler sales in Q3 FY25-26 with 8.62 lakh units.

India’s two-wheeler sector recorded robust sales of 5,696,000 units in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 (October–December 2025), with Uttar Pradesh leading the market at 862,000 units, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The top five states in two-wheeler sales were Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Bihar, highlighting strong demand across rural and semi-urban regions.

While Maharashtra sold 1,276,000 passenger vehicles during the period, it trailed in two-wheelers, reflecting distinct consumption patterns between vehicle segments. The Western Zone topped regional sales with 1.906 million units, driven by urban and rural demand in Maharashtra and Gujarat, which together account for nearly 20% of India’s two-wheeler market.

Two-wheelers remain a primary mode of mobility in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, supporting personal travel, last-mile deliveries, and small businesses. Uttar Pradesh contributed roughly 15% of national sales, reinforcing its pivotal role in India’s automotive growth amid evolving consumer preferences, including a gradual shift toward electric vehicles.

India continues to hold its position as the world’s largest two-wheeler market, with motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds serving as essential mobility solutions across urban and rural regions.
