Parth Kumar Tiwari tops UPSC NDA II 2026 merit list of 742 qualifiers.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II) 2025, with Parth Kumar Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh securing the All India Rank 1. The results, announced on April 8, 2026, mark the culmination of a rigorous selection process involving a written examination and Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews.

A total of 742 candidates have been recommended for admission to the 156th Course of the NDA and the 118th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The selected candidates will join the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings, subject to medical fitness and verification of eligibility criteria.

Parth Kumar Tiwari, a Class 12 student, hails from Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh. His academic journey reflects a strong defence-oriented background, having studied at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya before moving to the prestigious Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. His father is a teacher at a Sainik School, while his mother is a private teacher, indicating a supportive academic environment that contributed to his success.

The top three ranks in the merit list were secured by Parth Kumar Tiwari, followed by Ishaan Pachauri at Rank 2 and Ishaan Singh at Rank 3. The merit list includes both male and female candidates, with 651 men and 91 women making it to the final selection list.

The NDA II examination was conducted on September 14, 2025, and candidates who cleared the written stage were subsequently called for SSB interviews conducted by the Ministry of Defence. The final merit list has been prepared based on the combined performance in both stages, although medical examination results have not been factored into the rankings.

UPSC has clarified that the candidature of all selected candidates remains provisional until the verification of documents such as date of birth and educational qualifications is completed. Additionally, individual marks of candidates will be released on the official UPSC website approximately 15 days after the declaration of the final result.

Candidates who have qualified are expected to undergo further training at the NDA in Pune, followed by specialised training depending on their respective service wings. The NDA remains one of the most prestigious entry routes for aspirants aiming to join the Indian Armed Forces.The announcement of the results brings an end to months of anticipation for thousands of candidates across the country, with successful aspirants now set to embark on a disciplined and challenging journey towards serving the nation.
