UP to Be India's Economic Powerhouse by 2047
UP aims for self-reliance, competitiveness, says Minister Khanna.
Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced an ambitious plan to transform the state into a self-reliant and competitive economic powerhouse by 2047, aligning with the vision of a developed India. Speaking during a 24-hour marathon discussion in the UP Assembly on Wednesday, Khanna outlined the state’s roadmap to becoming India’s second-largest economy.
The discussion, themed "Developed India-Developed Uttar Pradesh, Self-reliant India-Self-reliant Uttar Pradesh," emphasized the need for collective participation to achieve these goals. Khanna urged all Assembly members to unite in this mission, stating, "India will become a developed nation only when states like UP take concrete steps forward." He highlighted the necessity of involving UP’s 25 crore citizens to ensure the state’s progress mirrors the national objective of a fully developed India by the centenary of independence in 2047.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Khanna noted significant strides in economic, social, and cultural development. He credited rapid infrastructure growth as a foundation for future progress, with the state government collaborating with NITI Aayog, experts, and institutions to craft a comprehensive 'Vision 2047' document. "This vision will serve as an action plan to guide UP toward self-reliance and global competitiveness," Khanna said.

The minister emphasized the importance of inclusive development, ensuring every citizen contributes to and benefits from the state’s growth. He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen UP’s economic framework, including investments in infrastructure and policies aimed at fostering sustainable development. "Our target is not just development but to establish UP as a leader in self-reliance and innovation," Khanna declared.
The Assembly’s special session reflects the government’s commitment to long-term planning, with the 'Vision 2047' document set to provide a clear path for UP’s transformation. As the state gears up for this ambitious journey, Khanna called for unity and active participation to make Uttar Pradesh a cornerstone of a developed India by 2047.
