Family Claims UP Man Killed In Riyadh Missile Attack Overnight, No Official Confirmation Yet

UP man killed in Riyadh missile attack, family claims.

A family in Sitapur district has claimed that their 26‑year‑old relative, Ravi Gopal, was killed in a missile attack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, recounting that his last phone call with his wife abruptly ended mid‑conversation. The incident occurred against the backdrop of a regional standoff between Iran and Israel, during which Saudi air defences intercepted several ballistic missiles over the capital.

The family, from Baghain village under Mahmoodabad police station limits, told local media that Ravi had been working as a factory labourer at a plastic unit in Riyadh since September 2025. On the night of March 18, around 8:20 pm Indian time, he was speaking to his wife Ritu when, about an hour into the call, the line suddenly went dead. Relatives said they heard what sounded like a loud explosion in the background just before the call disconnected and that all subsequent attempts to reach him failed.

The next day, a friend told the family that Ravi had been killed in a missile‑strike incident in Riyadh, allegedly due to falling debris after Saudi forces intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile south of the city. Ravi, described as the sole earner for his parents, wife, and four‑year‑old son, had first gone to Saudi Arabia in 2020 after his marriage and briefly returned in 2025 for his sister’s wedding.

The Sitapur district administration has told local reporters that it has not yet received official confirmation of Ravi’s death from Saudi authorities or India’s foreign‑service missions. District officials have asked the family to submit written details, which will be forwarded to the central government and the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia to help verify the case and facilitate repatriation of the body.

The family’s account coincides with broader reports that another Indian national has been named among those killed in recent missile strikes in Riyadh, with the Indian government confirming at least one Indian death in the attacks. The incident has triggered fresh anxiety among migrant workers’ families in Uttar Pradesh, many of whom depend on remittances from the Gulf and are now demanding faster consular assistance and clearer casualty information from both Indian and Saudi authorities.
