UP Doctor’s Unusual Act: Uses Feviquick Instead of Stitches on Toddler’s Severe Eye Wound
UP toddler hurt after doctor uses Feviquick on serious eye wound.
In a disturbing incident from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a private hospital doctor applied Feviquick, a strong adhesive glue, to a two-and-a-half-year-old child’s severe eye wound instead of stitching it properly. The child’s family grew increasingly alarmed as the pain worsened and feared further complications from this unusual treatment. They rushed the toddler to another medical facility where doctors struggled for over three hours to safely remove the adhesive from the sensitive area.
Feviquick, commonly used as an instant glue, contains cyanoacrylate compounds which are not designed for deep or delicate wounds, especially near sensitive areas like the eyes. Medical experts caution against using such adhesives as a substitute for proper surgical sutures, as it can cause irritation, pain, and potential damage. Typically, cyanoacrylate-based medical adhesives are only recommended for surface closure of minor, clean cuts and not for serious or jagged wounds.
The incident has now triggered a probe by the local health authorities in Uttar Pradesh. They are investigating the reasons behind the doctor’s decision to apply the industrial adhesive to the child’s injury rather than standard medical treatment. Medical negligence concerns have been raised on social media and by the victim’s family, demanding accountability for this unusual and risky practice.

While cyanoacrylate adhesives do have some approved medical uses under strict clinical settings, using commercial Feviquick in emergencies without proper evaluation or surgical care is highly discouraged. The removal process was arduous and put the toddler at additional risk, underscoring the dangers of improper wound management without qualified intervention.
This case highlights the critical need for regulated medical protocols and awareness about safe wound care methods among healthcare providers to protect vulnerable patients, especially young children, from avoidable harm.
