UP CM Yogi Alleges SP Used Temple-Related Funds For Other Purposes
Yogi alleges SP diverted temple-linked donations, sparking political controversy.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday accused the previous Samajwadi Party government of failing to focus on development and alleged that funds received in the name of temples were misused. Addressing a public gathering in Kushinagar, the Chief Minister highlighted the BJP government's work in healthcare, infrastructure, welfare schemes and connectivity while criticising the opposition over its governance record.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party, Adityanath said earlier governments lacked the intention and policy framework needed to undertake major development projects. He claimed that issues such as encephalitis, housing shortages, lack of land ownership rights and unemployment were not adequately addressed during previous administrations. He also accused opposition leaders of making allegations against the present government despite their own record in power.
The Chief Minister further alleged that the previous government created tensions during religious festivals and claimed that the law-and-order situation had improved under the BJP administration. He said people from different communities were now able to celebrate festivals peacefully and focus on development. He also alleged that money received in the name of temples was not properly utilised earlier, while stating that BJP ministers had taken up beautification work at several temples in their respective areas.

Speaking about infrastructure and connectivity, Adityanath discussed the challenges affecting air services from Kushinagar International Airport. He said global disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic and international conflicts, affected aircraft deliveries and delayed expansion plans. He added that efforts were underway to improve connectivity by linking Kushinagar with Jewar Airport once additional aircraft become available.
The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives related to healthcare and welfare schemes, particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Recalling the earlier impact of encephalitis in the region, he said Kushinagar had faced serious healthcare challenges in the past due to inadequate medical facilities. He claimed that the disease had been brought under control through government efforts and that infrastructure had improved with facilities such as a medical college and better road networks.
During the programme, Adityanath also spoke about welfare measures for economically weaker communities, including the Musahar community. He claimed that beneficiaries had received land ownership rights, permanent houses, Ayushman health cards, free ration, LPG connections and electricity connections under the BJP government. The event also included the felicitation of senior party workers Ram Vilash Bhagat and Ram Pravesh Sahni for their long association with the party and its ideology.
