UP Assembly Embraces AI to Revolutionize Governance

Special session explores AI to boost communication, transparency.

The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly held a special session titled "Empowering Public Representatives: Strengthening Communication through AI" in Lucknow, aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into legislative work to enhance communication and governance. The event, attended by Speaker Satish Mahana, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, and members from various parties, was led by IT experts Harshit and Ashutosh Tiwari, according to an official statement.

Speaker Mahana, in his inaugural address, emphasized the transformative potential of AI, noting that technology evolves rapidly but is guided by timeless principles. Reflecting on the evolution from early mobile phones to indispensable tools, he urged MLAs to adopt AI to boost efficiency, transparency, and public engagement. “Technology is not just a means of convenience; it has the potential to completely change the way we work,” Mahana stated. He highlighted AI’s role in enabling faster, more transparent communication with constituents.

Leader of Opposition Pandey welcomed the initiative, recalling a time when mobile phones were rare and celebrating AI’s role in modernizing legislative functions. Minister Khanna praised Mahana’s visionary approach, noting that AI, as a “source of knowledge,” could make legislators more effective, while technology preserves the Vidhan Sabha’s history.
