Two Men Injured After Car Skids Off Dhoodhli Route in Mussoorie

Two Dehradun men were rescued after their car skidded off-road.

Two men from Dehradun were injured after their car skidded off the Dhoodhli route in Mussoorie late Sunday night and became lodged in a tree. The accident occurred amid slippery road conditions caused by rainfall. The car, which had a Delhi registration number, reportedly went out of control and left the roadway. The vehicle avoided falling into a ditch after getting caught in a tree.

According to local residents, the two men had reached the Dhoodhli route after reportedly losing their way. Rainfall had made the steep road surface slippery, increasing the risk of the vehicle losing control. The occupants remained at the accident site through the night, with residents noticing the stranded vehicle the following morning. Police were informed about the incident after the car was spotted.

Mussoorie police reached the location after receiving information and rescued the two injured men. They were taken to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in a 108 ambulance for treatment. Police have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and are examining how the vehicle lost control. The identities of the injured men and details about their current medical condition were not immediately available.

The accident has also renewed concerns among residents about safety measures along the Dhoodhli route. Locals said several stretches of the road are steep and lack safety railings, creating additional risks for motorists. They pointed out that the danger becomes greater during the monsoon when continuous rainfall can make the road surface particularly slippery.

Residents have urged authorities to install safety railings at vulnerable points and improve road conditions along the route. They said stronger safety infrastructure could help prevent vehicles from leaving the roadway, particularly on steep sections. The latest incident has highlighted the challenges faced by motorists using the route during the rainy season.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident and determine the exact circumstances that caused the car to skid. The incident also serves as a reminder of the additional risks posed by wet and slippery roads in hilly areas during the monsoon. Authorities may need to assess vulnerable stretches of the route and consider additional safety measures to reduce the likelihood of similar accidents.
