Two Dead After Car Hits Motorcycle Near Joka Metro Station in Kolkata
Two killed after a car rammed their motorcycle from behind near Joka Metro Station in Kolkata on Sunday night.
Two people were killed when a car reportedly rammed into their motorcycle from behind near the Joka Metro Station in Kolkata on Sunday evening, police said. The victims, identified as 30-year-old Anjan Sadhukhan and 35-year-old Priya Das, were traveling from Joka to Thakurpukur when the accident occurred.
Police officials said the motorcycle lost control following the collision, causing both riders to fall and sustain fatal injuries. Locals immediately alerted authorities, and the victims were taken to Vidyasagar State General Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including whether the motorcycle was speeding or if traffic rules were violated. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed to trace the vehicle that fled the scene.

This stretch of Diamond Harbour Road in Behala has seen multiple accidents in the past, with commuters frequently raising concerns about road safety and poor infrastructure. Police officials are reportedly considering safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Supratim Sarkar, appointed recently, acknowledged the recurring incidents on this route and assured that measures would be taken to improve safety. Meanwhile, the search for the fleeing car continues as authorities appeal to the public for any information regarding the vehicle.
The police have also urged motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution in accident-prone areas and adhere to traffic norms to reduce such tragic occurrences in the future.
