TVK Fulfills Vijay’s Promise: ₹20 Lakh Aid Sent to 39 Karur Victim Families

Party chief ensures swift aid for stampede victims’ families.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by president Vijay, disbursed Rs 20 lakh each to the families of 39 out of 41 victims of the tragic Karur stampede. Party sources confirmed the funds were credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts by Saturday afternoon, fulfilling Vijay’s commitment to provide swift financial aid. The remaining two payments are delayed due to discrepancies in bank account details, which the party is actively resolving.

TVK sources emphasized Vijay’s personal involvement in ensuring the solatium was disbursed promptly, ahead of his planned visit to Karur to console the affected families. A letter, purportedly signed by Vijay, circulated on social media Saturday night, stating that he intends to visit the families in person after securing necessary permissions, with legal processes already underway. The party’s proactive approach has been widely noted, highlighting its focus on supporting the victims’ kin during this difficult time.

In addition to TVK’s efforts, other political parties have also extended financial support. Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Rs 10 lakh per family, with cheques already distributed to the kin of the deceased and injured. The Congress contributed Rs 2.5 lakh per family, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) provided Rs 1 lakh each, and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) offered Rs 50,000 per family. The collective response underscores a unified effort to aid those impacted by the tragedy.
