Tunnel Thieves! LA Burglars Tunnel Through Concrete and Steal $10 million

Burglars Tunnel into LA Jewelry Store, Steal Millions in Merchandise

Burglars executed a sophisticated heist at Love Jewels, a jewelry store on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles’ jewelry district, stealing at least USD 10 million in watches, pendants, gold chains, and other merchandise. The theft occurred around 9:30 pm on Sunday, with suspects tunneling through multiple concrete walls from an adjacent property to access the store, according to LA Police Officer David Cuellar.

Security footage captured the suspects entering through a large hole, fleeing via the same route, and escaping in a late-model Chevy truck. The heist went unnoticed until Monday morning when employees discovered overturned display cases, discarded boxes, and two broken safes containing the store’s entire inventory.

The owner, speaking to The Associated Press, estimated losses at USD 20 million, noting the store lacked insurance. No alarms were triggered, and the in-store security camera feed was severed.

On Tuesday, workers repaired damage, covering the hole with a metal plate and cleaning up debris. Love Jewels, known for items like 14-karat gold chains (USD 1,200) and heart-shaped earrings (USD 200), faced an outpouring of support from customers and friends, some inquiring about purchases.

Police are analyzing the scene for fingerprints and DNA, with initial estimates of the stolen goods’ value subject to change. The investigation continues as detectives review footage and pursue leads to identify the unknown number of suspects involved in this high-stakes burglary.
