Trump Warns Iran Of Severe Consequences Over Strait Of Hormuz Mines
Trump warns Iran against mining Strait of Hormuz, claiming US forces destroyed 10 boats amid rising Middle East tensions.
US President Donald Trump has issued a sharp warning to Iran against laying naval mines in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, claiming that US forces have already destroyed 10 vessels allegedly involved in mine-laying operations near the key maritime corridor. The remarks signal a further escalation in tensions as conflict spreads across parts of the Middle East.
Trump made the statement in a post on his Truth Social platform, warning Tehran of severe military consequences if mines were deployed in the narrow waterway linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman. “If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before,” he said.
Shortly after the warning, Trump claimed that the US military had “completely destroyed” 10 Iranian mine-laying boats, describing them as inactive vessels that could potentially be used to disrupt maritime traffic in the region. The US president added that further strikes could follow if threats to the shipping route continued.

The Strait of Hormuz is widely considered the world’s most critical energy chokepoint, with roughly one-fifth of global oil shipments passing through the narrow passage each day. Any disruption to shipping in the strait can trigger sharp fluctuations in global energy markets and heighten geopolitical tensions.
The warning comes amid reports from US intelligence officials suggesting that Iran may be preparing to deploy naval mines using small boats capable of carrying multiple explosive devices. Tehran has previously threatened to block the strait if it faces military pressure, though Iranian officials have denied some US claims about recent operations in the area.
The developments mark another flashpoint in the broader regional conflict involving Iran and its allies, with attacks and counterstrikes reported across several Middle Eastern countries. Analysts warn that any sustained disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have major consequences for global oil supplies and international trade.
