Trump Reportedly Plans Iran Strikes This Weekend Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

Trump reportedly prepares Iran strikes this weekend.

US President Donald Trump has reportedly instructed the American military to prepare for a possible new assault against Iran as early as this weekend, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal published on Friday. The report, citing unnamed US officials, said the proposed military action is intended to pressure Tehran into making concessions, though no official confirmation of a strike timeline has been issued by the White House. The reported development comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran following a series of confrontations in the region.

According to the report, Trump has expressed uncertainty over ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran while continuing to warn of a strong military response after a reported attack on a US military installation in Jordan. Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland on Friday, Trump reiterated his tough stance towards Tehran. "We'll be hitting them very hard," he said, adding that Iran could eventually reach a point where it would no longer be able to withstand continued pressure.  His comments came as officials weighed possible responses to recent developments involving Iran and US interests. Separately, CBS News reported that the United States was considering potential strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure, including electrical power facilities and petroleum refineries.

Such targets could have significant economic and humanitarian consequences, and rights organisations have warned that deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure may violate international humanitarian law. However, no final decision on targeting such facilities has been publicly confirmed by US officials. The possibility of military action has already affected global energy markets. Following reports about potential strikes, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices rose above $86 per barrel during post-settlement trading on Friday afternoon.

Markets often react sharply to developments involving the Middle East because the region plays a central role in global oil production and transportation routes. Iran has previously warned that any major US military action could trigger a broader regional response. The country has a network of allied groups across the Middle East, and previous confrontations involving Iran and the United States have raised concerns about possible escalation beyond direct military exchanges.  US officials have repeatedly said their priority is protecting American personnel and interests while preventing wider instability. The reported preparations come at a time when diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran remain uncertain.

While negotiations have continued through various channels, disagreements over Iran's military capabilities, regional activities and security issues have remained major obstacles. As of Friday, there has been no official announcement from the US administration confirming that a strike order has been issued or that military action will begin this weekend. The situation remains fluid, with further developments expected as officials assess diplomatic options, security concerns and potential military responses. Any escalation between the two countries could have major implications for regional stability, global energy markets and international relations.
