Trump Media Explores Revenue From Truth Social User Data

Trump Media explores new ways to monetise platform data.

Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social is set to begin licensing its data to financial services companies on Wall Street, marking a new business direction for Trump Media and Technology. The move will allow financial firms to access real-time data from the platform through a new backend interface, according to comments from interim CEO Kevin McGurn.

The planned data licensing service will provide financial companies with access to information generated on Truth Social for a fee. The initiative represents the company’s first major step into the data licensing business, expanding beyond its existing social media operations.

Kevin McGurn said the move is part of Trump Media’s broader efforts to explore new revenue opportunities. By creating a system that allows external businesses to use platform data, the company aims to develop additional commercial services alongside its core social media business.

The decision comes as financial firms increasingly rely on alternative data sources, including social media activity, to track market trends, public sentiment and emerging developments. Real-time online discussions and engagement patterns have become valuable inputs for some businesses involved in financial analysis and decision-making.

The licensing plan highlights Truth Social’s attempt to build a larger business ecosystem around its platform. The company has previously focused primarily on providing a social media space for users, but the new initiative indicates an expansion into data-driven services.

Trump Media and Technology, which operates Truth Social, has not disclosed details about pricing, the financial firms involved or the exact timeline for the launch of the data access system. The company’s move into licensing could become an important part of its strategy to diversify revenue streams.
