Trump Declares US Not Ready To Strike Deal To End Ongoing Iran War

Trump says Washington will not accept a deal to end the Iran war yet, arguing proposed terms remain inadequate.

Donald Trump has said the United States is not ready to agree to a deal to end the ongoing war with Iran, even though Tehran has indicated interest in negotiations. The U.S. president said the terms proposed so far were “not good enough,” signalling that Washington intends to continue military pressure before considering a ceasefire or peace agreement.

Speaking in recent media interviews, Trump said Iran had reached out about ending the conflict but insisted that any agreement must meet strict conditions set by Washington. He indicated the United States would only consider a deal if the terms were “very solid,” suggesting the administration is seeking stronger guarantees before halting ongoing operations.

The remarks come as the conflict between the United States, its ally Israel, and Iran continues to escalate across the Middle East. Israeli forces have launched fresh strikes on Iranian targets, while Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israeli positions and U.S. bases in the region.

The widening war has also raised concerns about global energy security. Iranian actions and military activity around the strategic Strait of Hormuz — through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply passes — have disrupted shipping routes and pushed energy prices higher. Washington has urged other countries to help secure the vital maritime corridor.

The conflict began after a series of large-scale U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iranian targets earlier in 2026, following months of stalled negotiations over Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes. Despite intermittent diplomatic outreach through intermediaries, both sides remain far apart on key issues, including Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and regional military activity.

With tensions continuing to rise and diplomatic efforts stalled, Trump’s latest comments indicate that a negotiated settlement may still be some distance away. The situation has heightened international concern over the risk of a broader regional conflict and its potential impact on global security and energy markets.
