Global leaders celebrate Modi’s record-breaking tenure in office.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected prime minister, joining several world leaders in recognising the historic political milestone. Trump shared his message on his Truth Social platform, praising Modi’s leadership and expressing confidence in his continued success. The congratulatory message came as Modi surpassed a record that had stood since India’s independence.
In his post, Trump described Modi as a close friend and a respected global leader. “Congratulations to my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister, and a Great One he is,” Trump wrote. He further praised the Indian leader as a “strong, healthy, and wise man” and said that many years of greatness and success still lay ahead for him. The message highlighted the cordial ties that have developed between the two leaders over the years.
Prime Minister Modi achieved the milestone after completing 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing the tenure of India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The achievement marks a significant moment in India’s political history, reflecting Modi’s uninterrupted leadership since first assuming office in May 2014. His tenure has spanned three consecutive terms and witnessed major policy initiatives, economic reforms, and a growing international profile for India.
