Trump Confirms Fresh Iran Talks Monday, Pushes To Restore Hormuz Shipping Access Quickly

US President Donald Trump has announced that negotiations with Iran are set to resume on Monday, signalling a renewed diplomatic effort aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East after he said a planned large-scale military strike had been called off. The announcement comes a day after Trump revealed that military action had been suspended on the condition that both sides moved quickly toward a negotiated agreement. "They asked us not to do it. They said, 'Please don't do it.' Their neighbours said that too. Trump also disclosed that he had personally sought the opinion of Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince before making his decision. Recalling the conversation, the President said the Crown Prince told him, "We would prefer a deal rather than an attack." Trump said the views of key US allies in the Gulf reinforced his decision to pause military action and continue pursuing negotiations. The comments indicate that Washington's regional partners are prioritising stability and diplomatic engagement over the prospect of a wider military conflict that could have significant economic and security consequences.
