Tripura CM Highlights Youth Potential In Building A More Innovative India

Technology and young talent seen as drivers of national innovation.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has emphasised the importance of combining technology with the talent and innovative thinking of the state’s youth to promote development and contribute to building a developed India. Speaking at an event in Agartala on Thursday, Saha said the future generation would become increasingly dependent on technology and stressed that Tripura had no shortage of talent among its students and young people.

Saha made the remarks after launching several initiatives for young people, including the Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026 and the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana for the 2025-26 academic year. He also inaugurated Digi-SAPNE 3.0 and formally opened a renovated and redeveloped auditorium. The Chief Minister said these initiatives were intended to encourage young people to apply their skills and ideas to innovative work and development.

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had emphasised the need to connect students and youth with technology to advance the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. Saha said young people’s innovative thinking could contribute not only to the development of Tripura but also to the wider national objective of building a developed India. He also referred to Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programmes, saying they provide guidance to students and youth while recognising their innovative ideas.

Saha said the Seva First Innovation Challenge would focus on ideas covering areas such as a clean and stable India, a prosperous India, a healthy and integrated India, an educated and skilled India, and a secure India. He said the initiative was designed to encourage young people to develop practical and innovative ideas around these themes. The government, he added, was keen to use the ideas and talent of students and youth for the development of the state.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana, saying it had benefited 63,249 people over the past five years, with each beneficiary receiving Rs 5,000. At the event, Saha handed over grant cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to 10 young entrepreneurs selected under Digi-SAPNE 3.0 to support their startups. The programme is aimed at strengthening technology-driven startups in the Northeast through mentorship, business acceleration, investor connections and other ecosystem support.

The event was attended by Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Information Technology and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Sikkim Manipal University Vice Chancellor Gopalakrishna Prabhu, MeitY Software Industry Promotion Division official Rajeshwar Singh Jenwar, IT and Finance Department Secretary P.K. Goyal and Secretary to the Chief Minister Kiran Gitte, among others.
