Thousands of voters in West Bengal are facing uncertainty over their names in the electoral roll, with many awaiting hearings before tribunals as disputes over inclusion and exclusion from voter lists continue to grow ahead of upcoming elections.
Several affected individuals have reported that their names were either missing or flagged during recent revisions of the electoral rolls, prompting them to approach designated electoral tribunals for resolution. In many cases, applicants are required to provide documentary proof of identity, residency, and eligibility to restore or confirm their voter status.
Officials involved in the process said that electoral roll verification is part of routine administrative exercise aimed at ensuring accuracy and eliminating duplication or ineligible entries. However, the scale of disputes has raised concerns among applicants, many of whom say they are struggling to navigate documentation requirements and procedural delays.
