Tragic Loss: Rajasthan Families Grieve Sons Killed While Working Abroad in Oman
Two young men from Rajasthan killed in Oman strike return home, leaving families and villages in grief.
The bodies of two young men from Rajasthan, killed in a drone attack in Oman, were brought back to India on Tuesday, leaving their home villages in shock and grief. The incident, linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, has deeply affected families in the Sikar and Beawar districts.
The deceased have been identified as Vikram Verma, from Agloi village in Khandela, Sikar, and Pappu Singh, from Lalpura village in the Raipur subdivision of Beawar. Both had travelled to Oman on February 23 seeking employment opportunities to support their families.
Police reports stated that the attack occurred on March 13. The bodies were flown to Jaipur before being taken to their respective villages for last rites, which were performed amid mourning relatives, friends, and residents.

Vikram Verma had been working with a construction company engaged in road projects. His family said he had spoken to them just a day before the attack, expressing concerns about the situation in the region. His uncle, Mahesh Verma, described the family’s loss: “He was the only son among three sisters. One is married, while the other two are still studying. He had gone abroad to support the family as his father’s income was insufficient. His mother has been bedridden for the past six months.”
The family was informed about the attack on March 14. Vikram’s cousin, who worked at another site for the same company in Oman, conveyed the news and later accompanied the body back to India.
In both villages, large numbers of residents gathered as the bodies arrived, expressing disbelief and offering condolences. The sudden deaths of Vikram Verma and Pappu Singh have left their communities mourning two young men who had left home in search of better opportunities, highlighting the risks faced by migrant workers abroad amid global conflicts.
