Tragic accident in Mandi, three killed, two injured as car plunges into gorge.

A devastating accident claimed the lives of three individuals and left two others critically injured when their Maruti Alto veered off a narrow, rain-soaked road and plunged into a deep gorge near Saini Nullah on the Janjehli-Chhatri road in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. The incident, which occurred late Sunday night, August 3, 2025, was discovered by local villagers on Monday morning, prompting a swift response from police and rescue teams.

The deceased were identified as Devdat, Mangal Chand, and Yashpal, all residents of Breogi village in the Chhatri area. The injured, driver Guman Singh from Kalyanju village and Labh Singh from Gagan village, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to preliminary investigations, the group was returning from Shankardehra after work in the apple season when the vehicle skidded on a slippery patch, exacerbated by heavy monsoon rains and a collapsed roadside retaining wall.
