Tragedy Strikes: SUV Plunges into Shalvi River
Two Dead, Child Missing in Himachal Crash
A horrific accident in Shimal district saw an SUV veer off the road and plunge into the Shalvi River on Saturday evening, claiming two lives and leaving a 10-year-old boy missing, police reported.
The victims, identified as Gurmel Lal from Nawanshahr, Punjab, and Kumar Suchi from Nerwa, died in the crash. Two others, Keshav Kumar and Balvinder, both from Nawanshahr, sustained injuries and were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Nerwa.
Balvinder’s son was swept away by the river’s strong currents and remains untraced. Rescue teams are actively searching for the missing child. The incident underscores the dangers of Himachal’s rugged terrain, with authorities investigating the cause of the skid.
