Tragedy in Narela: 5-Year-Old Murdered by Family Driver; Police Make Arrest

Delhi Police arrested a 32-year-old driver on Wednesday in connection with the kidnapping and brutal murder of his employer's five-year-old son in the Narela area of outer Delhi, in what investigators describe as a revenge-fuelled act. The accused, identified as Neetu, a resident of the same locality, allegedly targeted the child after harbouring deep resentment toward his employer, a local transporter, following a public altercation. The incident, which unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, has sent shockwaves through the Narela Industrial Area community, where families often rely on informal neighbourhood ties for childcare and play. Authorities acted swiftly, apprehending Neetu just a day after the crime, underscoring the rapid response amid rising concerns over urban safety in densely populated outskirts of the capital.

The tragedy began around 3:30 pm on Tuesday when the boy vanished while playing unsupervised outside his family home, prompting frantic searches by relatives and neighbours. A missing child alert triggered an immediate police operation, leading officers to a rented room in the vicinity occupied by Neetu. Inside, they discovered the unconscious toddler, who had been savagely attacked with bricks and a knife in a fit of apparent rage.

Rushed to a nearby hospital, the child was pronounced dead on arrival, his small frame bearing the marks of unimaginable violence. Preliminary investigations point to Neetu's motive stemming from a Monday evening confrontation: the employer had reprimanded and physically disciplined him for drunkenly abusing a fellow driver, an episode that festered into a lethal grudge. "In a fit of rage, Neetu appears to have lured the boy from outside his home and taken him to his room, where he murdered him," a senior police officer revealed, adding that the suspect offered no resistance during his arrest.
