A viral video showing patients treated under torchlight in the emergency room of Ballia district hospital has sparked outrage. Health officials attributed the crisis to a power outage on Friday evening, compounded by a technical glitch in the hospital’s generator, leaving the facility without electricity for 45 minutes.
Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. S K Yadav explained that the disruption led to the chaotic scene, which was recorded and widely shared online by Saturday. Following the incident, the hospital installed additional inverters in the emergency room to ensure a more reliable power backup system.
Dr. Yadav assured that measures have been taken to prevent future outages, enhancing the facility’s efficiency.
