Top-Ranked MP Police Station Exposed After Cops Caught Kidnapping Student on Camera
CCTV reveals MP police abducted a student and fabricated an opium case, prompting High Court intervention.
In a damning indictment of police misconduct, the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday exposed a brazen case of abduction and evidence fabrication by officers of Malhargarh police station—recently ranked ninth among India’s best police stations—after CCTV and mobile footage proved they kidnapped an 18-year-old Class 12 student from a moving bus and falsely implicated him with 2.7 kg of opium.
The victim, Sohan, a first-division student from Malhargarh in the Mandsaur district, was forcibly dragged off a passenger bus in broad daylight on August 29 by plainclothes policemen. Hours later, the same police station issued a press note claiming a “major narcotics haul” and produced him in court the next day, leading to his immediate imprisonment.
Video evidence presented before the Indore bench of the High Court told a starkly different story: no chase, no seizure, and no drugs—only uniformed and plainclothes officers stopping the bus, bundling the terrified teenager into a vehicle, and driving away. Sohan’s family moved the High Court on December 5, alleging illegal abduction and framing.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Mandsaur Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Meena was summoned in person and forced to admit the entire sequence of events was fabricated. He conceded that:
- The arrest time and location mentioned in the FIR were false
- The student was already in illegal custody when the case was registered
- The men seen forcibly removing Sohan from the bus—earlier disowned by police—were indeed Malhargarh station personnel
- The operation was orchestrated by a head constable
In open court, SP Meena announced the immediate suspension of six policemen, including the head constable who led the abduction, and ordered a departmental inquiry. The court has reserved its final order, with sources indicating custodial action against the accused officers is likely.
Senior advocate Himanshu Thakur, appearing for the victim, told reporters outside court, “This is one of the most shocking instances of police criminality. A bright student was kidnapped in full public view and framed with opium just to show a fake recovery. The SP has admitted everything on record.”
The scandal has triggered outrage in Madhya Pradesh, especially ironic given Malhargarh police station’s recent national ranking. Political leaders across parties have demanded exemplary punishment and compensation for the traumatised student, who remains in judicial custody pending formal quashing of the false case.
