TNEA 2026 Rank List Released, 53 Candidates Score Perfect 200
Tamil Nadu releases TNEA 2026 engineering rank list with topper
The Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department on Wednesday released the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 rank list, with Akshitha N from Dharmapuri securing the top rank. Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan announced the rank list along with the counselling schedule for engineering admissions across the state. The publication of the rank list marks the beginning of the admission process for thousands of students seeking admission to engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.
According to official data, a total of 2,45,235 candidates registered for TNEA 2026. Students whose names are missing from the published rank list or who notice any discrepancies in their details have been given an opportunity to submit their grievances. The Higher Education Department has stated that objections and corrections can be submitted until July 6, after which the counselling process will move forward based on the final rank list.
This year, 53 candidates achieved a perfect cut-off score of 200 out of 200, jointly topping the merit list. The high number of students securing full marks reflects the intense competition for engineering admissions in the state. The TNEA rank list has been prepared based on the normalised marks obtained by candidates in the qualifying examination, following the admission guidelines prescribed by the state government.

The department also released details of candidates applying under various special reservation categories. Under the sports quota, 7,981 students submitted applications, while the rank list was published for 3,210 eligible candidates. In the ex-servicemen category, 1,176 candidates applied for admission. Meanwhile, 500 students applied under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category for engineering seats.
Applications under the Government School Special Reservation category also remained significant this year. A total of 50,494 candidates applied under the quota, with the rank list being published for 46,604 eligible students. The reservation aims to improve access to higher education for students studying in government schools by providing dedicated opportunities during the admission process.
Following the release of the rank list, candidates are advised to carefully verify their rankings and personal details before the grievance deadline. Once all objections are addressed, the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department will begin the counselling process, during which eligible candidates will be allotted engineering colleges and courses based on their rank, reservation category and seat availability.
