TN CM Stalin Slams Shocking Harassment of Kerala Nuns in Chhattisgarh
TN CM Stalin condemns harassment of Kerala nuns by Bajrang Dal in Chhattisgarh.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has issued a scathing condemnation of the alleged harassment faced by Catholic nuns from Kerala at the hands of Bajrang Dal members in Chhattisgarh, labeling it a disturbing example of “communal vigilantism enabled by state inaction.” In a strongly worded social media post, Stalin expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting a troubling pattern of targeted attacks against India’s minority communities.
The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, involved Kerala nuns reportedly facing false accusations and harassment by members of the Bajrang Dal, a right-wing Hindu nationalist group. While specific details of the event remain under investigation, Stalin’s statement underscored the gravity of the situation, accusing authorities of failing to curb such acts of communal aggression. “It is deeply disturbing to see Kerala’s Catholic nuns subjected to harassment and false accusations by Bajrang Dal in Chhattisgarh,” he wrote. “This targeted mob action reflects a dangerous pattern of communal vigilantism enabled by state inaction.”
Stalin, a prominent leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and a vocal advocate for social justice, emphasized that India’s minorities deserve “dignity and equal rights, not fear.” His remarks come amid growing concerns over rising communal tensions in parts of the country, with the Chhattisgarh incident adding fuel to debates about religious intolerance and the safety of minority groups.

The Chief Minister’s statement aligns with his broader stance against divisive politics, as he has previously criticized policies and actions that he believes undermine India’s secular fabric. Stalin’s outspoken response has drawn attention to the need for stronger measures to protect vulnerable communities and ensure accountability for those perpetrating such acts.
As the issue gains traction, calls for a thorough investigation and swift action against the perpetrators are growing louder, with Stalin’s remarks amplifying the urgency of addressing communal vigilantism across India.
