TMC Accuses PM Modi of Targeting Infiltrators
TMC criticizes PM Modi’s Independence Day speech
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) accused Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi of using his 79th Independence Day speech to target a “new enemy” in the form of “infiltrators.” TMC’s Rajya Sabha deputy leader Sagarika Ghose, in a post on X, also criticized PM Modi for “over-promising and under-achieving” during his 11-year tenure, alleging he sidesteps accountability by focusing on new adversaries and missions.
In his address from the Red Fort, PM Modi warned of a “premeditated conspiracy” to alter India’s demography through illegal infiltration, asserting that no nation can tolerate intruders. He announced a high-powered demographic mission to address this issue, framing it as a critical step for national security. Ghose countered, “As usual, PM Narendra Modi uses his Independence Day speech to target a new ‘enemy.’ After Andolanjeevis, now ‘infiltrators’ are the target. New ‘missions’ announced while targeting past governments.” She questioned when PM Modi would deliver an Independence Day speech that honestly reflects on his own record.
The TMC’s remarks highlight ongoing political tensions, with the party accusing PM Modi of deflecting from governance challenges by spotlighting issues like infiltration, while promoting initiatives like the demographic mission to rally public support.
