Ticket Refund Process Announced by UPCA Following Lucknow Fog-Hit Match

UPCA announces full refunds for spectators after the India-South Africa T20I in Lucknow is abandoned due to fog.

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has announced a full ticket refund for spectators affected by the abandonment of the fourth T20I between India and South Africa at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. The match was called off without a ball bowled due to persistent dense fog and poor visibility, following multiple inspections by umpires. This rare weather-related cancellation prompted swift action from UPCA to address fan concerns amid criticism over scheduling in northern India during winter.

For spectators who purchased tickets online (likely through platforms like BookMyShow or similar), refunds will be processed automatically to the original mode of payment. UPCA stated that notifications regarding the refund will be sent to registered email addresses. Fans are advised to monitor their emails, including spam folders, for updates and confirmation of the credited amount.

Offline ticket holders must claim refunds in person at the box office located at Gate No. 2 of the Ekana Stadium. The designated dates are December 20, 21, and 22, between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Requirements include presenting the original physical tickets and a copy of a government-issued ID for verification. Some reports indicate that a refund form must be filled out, along with submission of bank details for direct transfer.

UPCA emphasised that refunds will only be initiated after successful verification of documents and information to ensure a transparent process. No partial refunds or other compensations have been mentioned, and the policy applies specifically to this abandoned match.

This decision follows scrutiny on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for winter fixtures in fog-prone areas, compounded by hazardous air quality readings. The series now moves to its decider in Ahmedabad, with India leading 2-1. Fans are encouraged to contact UPCA helplines if further clarification is needed.
